Spicers Potts Point

Spicers Potts Point

Last month I had the pleasure of enjoying a very special staycation at Spicers Potts Point in Sydney. Safe to say it was incredible. Spicers have converted Victorian Terrace houses into a luxurious contemporary boutique hotel without compromising the character and history of the architecture. The building itself is enchanting, elegant and at the same time homely - made all the more welcoming by the lovely staff who looked after our stay.

Skylights allow natural light to illuminate the lower levels.

The hotel features 16 gorgeous modern rooms with flares of antique quirk playing homage to the history of the building. Spicers provide each room with a record player and a selection of classic vinyl cuts for you to enjoy, our room had INXS; one of my all time favourites!

We stayed in the Victoria Suite which as the name suggests looks out over Victoria street and its rows of towering gum trees. Laying in bed reading, listening to to the sound of the breeze through the leaves outside the window created an immediate sense of serenity. It was amazing to be in one of the busiest parts of Sydney yet feel so calm and relaxed.

Downstairs at the bar a different cocktail is featured each week for complimentary cocktail and cheese hour. An opportunity to wind down, catch up on some work or mingle with other guests staying at the hotel.

Potts Point and its neighbouring suburbs are known for their restaurant scene. Wendy, the superstar general manager has organised team-ups with local restaurants for “room service”.  Look through the menus in your room, give the front desk a buzz, and have a meal from some of Sydneys' most revered restaurants delivered to your room.

We decided to venture out for the evening. Wendy organised us a table across the road at The Butler. The evening ended with a beautiful leisurely dinner on the terrace admiring sunset over the Sydney skyline.

Spicers only opened late last year and Wendy and the Spicers team have done an incredible job at making the place run like clockwork.  It feels luxurious, yet warm and homely opposed to that transient cold feeling some hotels can have. The whole experience was flawless. I recommend putting this new Sydney spot on your list if you are looking for a cute and unique stay that will make Sydney feel like home. You will never want to the leave!
